Horn Charts for We Gon Ride

Horn writing can add energy, color, and definition to a contemporary rhythm section. At the same time, effective horn parts need to complement the song rather than compete with it. For We Gon Ride, Fulton approached the assignment as a working commercial arranger. His goal was to create horn writing that supported the musical setting and served the production.

The project came during a period in which Fulton continued to arrange for artists across jazz, R&B, pop, and other commercial styles. Consequently, the assignment drew on his experience writing for both rhythm sections and larger ensembles. His arranging work includes horn sections, little big bands, big bands, orchestras, chamber groups, and vocalists.

Najee and Mind Over Matter

Saxophonist Najee released Mind Over Matter through Heads Up International. The album blends contemporary jazz with elements of R&B and neo-soul. In addition, the project includes guest appearances by several artists, including vocalist Eric Benét. Concord describes the recording as combining Najee’s established sound with new musical voices and a strong emphasis on groove.
